Archangel Michael 1

After I’d started icon painting lessons I really wanted to paint an angel. And now I know that they are my favorite object to paint.

Because of the expression I can give them. And because many people are easy connection with angels, more than saints. Or maybe I’m especially talking about myself?

You don’t need to be religious to feel a connection with angels. With saints it is different. Saints are people who have been declared holy by the church, because of something special they did.

But it is all open for discussion. Not with me. I don’t go there. I’m just a painter and love to paint angels. Or other mythical beings.

Anyway, Archangel Michael is one of my favorites and there are so many examples to use.

That’s a rule by the way: you always use an example of an icon to make your own. But many times they don’t look like the final result.

This is one of my favorites, so I gave it to my favorite person in the world, my daughter.
